CRESTRON HOME® OS 4.3 SUMMER 2024 UPDATE
Crestron Home® rolled out its latest update to its operating system, OS 4.3, on August 28, 2024.
This is the first of two updates to be released before the close of 2024, and it has dozens of enhancements that make your automated home smarter than ever before.
A major enhancement is the use of conditional logic to direct Crestron Home® to perform sequential automated tasks. This use of “if-then-else” statements gives your AV Enthusiast Integrators superb flexibility when creating complex automation scenarios for your home. For example, a sunset sequence could be created so that "if" the light sensor in the living room detects a light level below 30%, "then" the living room's light level rises to 80%; on the other hand,"if" that same light sensor detects a light level of 30% or above, "else" (meaning otherwise) the living room’s light level remains the same.
Another slick enhancement for lighting control is the ability for your integrator to easily adjust the fade rate, allowing for rates anywhere from very gradual to instantaneous to anywhere-in-between. For example, you may want the lights in your son’s bedroom to illuminate suddenly at 6 AM on school days since he struggles to get up and get going on time. Alternatively, you may want the lights in all bedroom areas to fade slowly to off by a certain time each evening.
In addition to the features mentioned above, the OS 4.3 update and its’ successor update due out in December 2024 also include these updates:
- Multiprocessor support for shades, allowing more shades to be controlled than before
- Room-to-room calling (as seen in the image above) and paging replies between Crestron touch screens
- PIN code protection for Crestron touch screens
