THE PLACE TO BE IN 2023: THE SPRING HOME + GARDEN SHOW

Have you got the itch yet? You know, the itch of spring fever!

After the severe cold snap recently experienced here in Huntsville, Alabama, and across most of the continental United States, it’s a good chance that spring fever has already sprung for many of us.

For folks here in the Tennessee Valley, the onset of spring fever in the dead of winter brings visions of one of our most popular spring events, the Spring Home + Garden Show held at the Von Braun Center and hosted by the HMCBA (Huntsville Madison County Builders Association).

For anyone unfamiliar with this event, the words of Barry Oxley of the HMCBA explain it precisely, “Everything for your home. Inside and out.” In other words, this annual event is a timesaver for homeowners, providing them with the opportunity to conveniently gather pertinent information from multiple local home improvement and remodeling specialists, all gathered together in a large venue over one special weekend.

All vendors at this event are licensed and insured, and will be anxiously awaiting a chance to talk with you about the role that their company can play in the successful implementation of your plans. So now, in the dead of winter, is the perfect opportunity for you to put those plans on paper, including a list of the types of businesses that may play a major role in the successful completion of your project. Do you need a general contractor for a major remodel, or simply a plumber to install a new kitchen sink and dishwasher? Maybe you need a reputable company to install a pool or hot tub in the back yard, or a landscaper to install a water garden and fountain just beyond your patio. Maybe you’ve been dreaming of having weatherproof speakers hidden in your landscaping, and a weatherproof TV installed near the pool. How about adding an outdoor kitchen, too?

Or maybe you simply need your roof replaced, or a whole-house water purification system installed.

Just about any home-related service or product should be represented at this year’s show and may include audio-visual companies, roofers, plumbers, painters, gutter installers, electricians, home decorators, and garden specialists.

Outdoor living will definitely be emphasized, so you will probably see grills, smokers, outdoor kitchens, pergolas, flowering plants and outdoor furniture represented.

Most businesses at the show will give you a home show discount, and you will have the opportunity to make appointments on the spot for consultations and estimates. That’s the timesaving feature of this event – rather than spending hours on the phone or online contacting multiple businesses for appointments for consultations and estimates, you can accomplish it all in a leisurely, enjoyable atmosphere, talking to business representatives face-to-face, and experiencing a first-hand demonstration of their product or service.

In addition, there will be vendors demonstrating products related to your main project, such as cutlery or cookware to compliment your newly-remodeled kitchen, or specialty blends of spices for your next barbecue by the pool. But wait, what about the kids? They’ll be so bored at an event like this!

Not to worry – there’s always a kids activity area set up to keep them joyfully occupied, not to mention multiple food vendors offering a variety of fast foods to keep their little tummies from rumbling.
