Whether it be an out-of-town trip to celebrate Thanksgiving with relatives or simply an evening out at the Von Braun Center in downtown Huntsville to enjoy a performance of “Cirque Dreams: Holidaze”, you’ll be able to check on the status of your home at any time of day or night and receive immediate alerts if any unexpected activity occurs (assuming that you have cell phone service and the Crestron Home app.)

If you need to allow certain people, such as a housekeeper or pet sitter, to have access to your home while you’re gone, Yale smart locks or an ekey biometric access system in conjunction with a video doorbell, such as DoorBird or 2N, can be integrated into Crestron Home for that purpose.

ONE-TOUCH INITIATION OF MUTI-FACETED TASKS

Setting up Quick Actions (scenes) to automate numerous tasks in your home are now personalized and so easy that you can do it yourself if you like, and we think that many of you who are tech-savvy will love that option. But don’t fret, your friendly AV Enthusiast Integrator will be available for the job and happy to continue performing that task for you if you prefer. 

Setting up numerous Quick Actions will allow you to initiate a series of actions set into motion with one quick and easy tap on either a Crestron Home wall-mounted touchscreen, a tabletop touchscreen, or within the Crestron Home app on your smartphone.  You can name each Quick Action whatever you want, such as “Halloween Party,” “Watch Macy’s Parade,” “Turkey Dinner Time,” “Watch Turkey Day Football,” “Family Christmas Party,” or “New Year’s Eve Blast.” Each of these Quick Actions can be further set to initiate automatically at a certain time, if desired.

Initiating a Quick Action sets into motion a spontaneous series of events controlled by Crestron Home as it instantaneously commands each smart system involved to perform the desired task in the desired timeline.  For example, you may have a houseful of out-of-town guests on Thanksgiving Day, and it is a tradition for everyone to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade together to kick off the celebration.

At 7:45 AM, a jingle-bell chime followed by this announcement comes across your whole-home speakers: “Hear ye, hear ye, the 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade starts at 8 AM.  Please proceed to the theater at the south end of the first floor now to get the best seats.”  This announcement repeats at 5-minute intervals throughout your home until 8 AM.

When you and your guests are settled into your seats in your newly-customized home theater, the parade is already up on the big screen and the mesmerizing experience of “sound-all-around” draws everyone into the experience as if you are all there on the parade route in New York City.

That’s just one short example of the time and energy that the use of Crestron Home Quick Actions can save you. For each activity, you’ll enjoy setting up such things as the ambiance created by tunable LED lighting and automated window shades paired with a customized playlist of holiday tunes, whether you want it relaxed and solemn during the prayer at Christmas dinner, or bright and celebratory in your media lounge during the football game on New Year’s Day. And, of course, you want the perfect climate control throughout your home, which may differ for certain activities.

Whole-home paging and customizable chimes that were added in the OS 4 upgrade will further afford you the convenience of being able to summon your guests to activities at the scheduled time, which will be a treasured feature if you have a spacious home filled with guests.
