ENJOY SUPER BOWL 2024 IN YOUR FULLY-AUTOMATED HOME THEATER
If you’re an avid fan of professional football, you’re looking forward to Super Bowl 2024 on February 11th.
Furthermore, if you are fortunate enough to live in a smart home automated by Crestron Home, you’re most likely planning to watch the game in the comfort of your customized home theater, which you love to show off to friends and family at any opportunity. This year, you would love to have something new in your theater to “talk up” to those who attend your Super Bowl Bash. But you’re drawing a blank – everything in the theater is already state-of-the-art and fully automated. Or is it?
When you think back to the last conversation that you had with your AV Enthusiast Integrator in early 2023, there were a few options that you decided against in order to “trim the fat” and stay within budget. Turns out, there have been several occasions during the past year when you have come to understand how very cool it would have been to have those technologies at work in the theater. For example, you skipped the Crestron tunable LED lighting, and you decided that the addition of multiple Samsung TVs in selected areas would be going overboard.
RE-THINKING HOW YOU USE YOUR THEATER
2023 turned out to be the year when your family began using your theater for special celebrations in addition to simply watching movies. Your ten-year-old daughter wanted the Barbie movie to be the theme for her birthday party in August, so of course you planned to have it in the theater so that the kids could watch the movie on the big screen and do gifts and refreshments in that same venue. You decided to have posters custom-made depicting various themes from the movie as decorations for the walls, and you had strings of lights and streamers in Barbie pink and pastel rainbow colors strung overhead. All of that turned out to be a lot of work and extra expense, not to mention all of the other necessary preps. When the party was over with and all the guests had headed home, you and your spouse collapsed into the comfy theater seating to chill out before turning in for the night, and as you gazed upward at those strings of lights, you thought, “Wow, my integrator was spot-on. It would have been such an advantage to have those tunable LED lights permanently installed in here, along with a few TVs so that we could have simply displayed different Barbie images on each one of them. So much simpler that way!" S So much simpler that way!
As it turned out, you experienced the same wishful thinking during the 2023 holiday season, when you hosted a “Home Alone” movie night in your theater in mid-December. Some tunable strip lights and maybe a few Samsung TVs could have added a cheerful sparkle to the event!
SOME OPTIONS TO ENHANCE YOUR EXPERIENCE
So here we are, about a month out from Super Bowl Sunday 2024. Do you want to add more “bells and whistles” before game day? In addition to tunable LED lighting and TVs for programmable displays, what else could be added? We suggest the addition of occupancy sensors, allowing Crestron Home to automatically reset all theater systems when the room is no longer occupied, or perhaps an automated curtain to hide and protect your projection screen when not in use.
And you might thoroughly enjoy having a Crestron TSR-310 handheld remote control, conveniently stored in an elegant wall-mount enclosure just inside the entrance to the room. Introduced in 2023, this remote is compatible with Crestron’s latest update to its operating system, OS 4. It’s a very durable device with backlit buttons, movement sensing, a bright 3” color touchscreen, voice control capability, and auto-brightness control, making it a great option for the easy control of all automated systems in your home theater (as well as the other automated systems in your home).
GAME DAY MADE EASY
On game day, you simply snatch the TSR-310 from its enclosure as you enter the theater ahead of your guests and speak the command “Super Bowl.” Instantly, your theater comes alive. Crestron’s tunable LED lights illuminate and automatically adjust to the perfect intensity and warmth for viewing the game, and the motorized curtain withdraws to reveal the pre-game show already in progress, with audio perfectly adjusted for a room filled with excited fans.
On the wall behind the buffet area in the rear of the room is an ultra-slim 85” Samsung NEO QLED 8k TV displaying a constant loop of highlights from Super Bowl 2023. Upbeat strains of songs from your Super Bowl playlist, such as “Eye of the Tiger,” are emanating from speakers exclusively in the buffet zone and tunable Philips Hue wireless strip lights add a festive flare of Super Bowl colors to the tables, ceiling, and bar area. The catering crew arrives with steaming trays of buffalo hot wings, burgers, nachos, pizza bites, and hot cheddar pasta, along with broccoli salad, chips and dip, chocolatey football cookies, cheesecake brownies, Coca Cola cake, and Oreo pie at about the same time that a crew from a local brewery delivers two kegs of craft beer. And off to one side is an ice cream bar serving up milkshakes, hot fudge sundaes and banana splits, along with soft drinks.
Fifteen minutes before game time, you initiate a whole-house announcement with a single tap on the touchscreen of your remote, urging any straggling guests to make their way to the theater before the game starts. Thanks to Crestron Home and your insightful AV Enthusiast Integrator, the stage has been set for an unforgettable Super Bowl experience, and you have barely lifted a finger.
